WICHITA, Kan. -- Fred VanVleet scored 21 points and Ron Baker had 19 to lead No. 9 Wichita State past Tulsa 75-55 on Saturday.

VanVleet and Baker combined for 23 first-half points as the Shockers (4-0) built an 18-point lead. Darius Carter scored 14 points for Wichita State.

James Woodard scored 16 of his 19 points in the second half for Tulsa (3-3). D'Andre Wright had 13 points for the Golden Hurricane.

No. 8 VIRGINIA 45, RUTGERS 26

NEW YORK -- Justin Anderson and Anthony Gill each had 13 points to lead Virginia to a win over Rutgers in the championship game of the Barclays Center Classic.

Virginia (6-0) held Rutgers to just 25 percent shooting.

Anderson, who was the MVP of the tournament, had a two-handed dunk with 3:02 left that essentially sealed the win. Gill added his own emphatic two-handed dunk with 1:36 remaining that pushed the Cavaliers lead to 42-26.

Kadeem Jack's eight points led Rutgers (3-3).

OLD DOMINION 73, NO. 14 VCU 67

NORFOLK, Va. -- Aaron Bacote scored a career-high 31 points to lift Old Dominion to a win over No. 14 Virginia Commonwealth.

Bacote, who came into the game averaging just four points and shooting 16 percent, had scored just 20 points on the season.

He made his first eight shots, including four 3-pointers, and was 11 for 13 from the free throw line to top his previous career high of 28 done twice last season.

The Rams (4-2) were led by Treveon Graham's 34 points and never led after the opening few minutes.

ODU (5-1) forged a 23-8 lead with 9:17 left in the first half when sophomore guard Ambrose Mosley sank consecutive 3-pointers.

NO. 19 MICHIGAN 91, NICHOLLS STATE 62

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Caris LeVert scored 19 of his 24 points in the first half, and No. 19 Michigan bounced back from its first loss of the season with a victory over Nicholls State.

The Wolverines (5-1) were without starting point guard Derrick Walton, who was on the sideline with what appeared to be a boot on his left foot. Spike Albrecht was certainly a capable replacement for Walton, finishing with 10 points, seven assists, three steals and no turnovers.

Ricky Doyle added 15 points for Michigan, and Zak Irvin scored 14.

Nicholls State (0-4) was led by Ja'Dante' Frye, who scored 15 points. T.J. Carpenter added 12.

NO. 21 WEST VIRGINIA 86, COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON 57

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Jonathan Holton scored a career-high 21 points, leading No. 21 West Virginia to a win over the College of Charleston.

West Virginia (7-0) is off to its best start since going 11-0 in the 2009-10 season when it reached the Final Four.

Jaysean Paige added 15 points for the Mountaineers and Juwan Staten had 10. Evan Bailey and Donovan Gilmore led the College of Charleston (2-4) with 13 points followed by Joe Chealey's 10.

West Virginia led 38-29 at halftime and extended its lead to as many as 34 points on several occasions late in the second half.

NO. 23 CREIGHTON 57, MIDDLE TENNESSEE 47

NICEVILLE, Fla. -- Austin Chatman and Isaiah Zierden each scored 10 points to help No. 23 Creighton beat Middle Tennessee and finished third in the inaugural Emerald Coast Classic.

Creighton (6-1) bounced back from its first loss of the season. Mississippi defeated Creighton 75-68 Friday in the semifinal of the eight team tournament at Northwest Florida State College.

Jaqawn Raymond led Middle Tennessee (3-3) with nine points.
