Charles leads Holy Cross to 69-60 win over Sacred Heart
WORCESTER, Mass. -- Karl Charles scored 15 with seven rebounds and Matt Zignorski had 13 points to help Holy Cross beat Sacred Heart 69-60 Wednesday.
Malachi Alexander finished with 13 points while Anthony Thompson and Cullen Hamilton scored 10 apiece for Holy Cross (2-3).
Sean Hoehn hit a 3-pointer to pull Sacred Heart (1-4) within three, 60-57, with 4:16 to play but the Pioneers made just 1 of 5 field goals with three turnovers from there.
Neither team shot even 40 percent from the field (Sacred Heart made 21 of 53 shots while Holy Cross hit 21 of 54). The Crusaders forced 14 Sacred Heart turnovers -- while committing just seven -- and made more free throws (19) than the Pioneers attempted (14) while shooting 70.4 percent from the stripe.
Tevin Falzon scored 21 with seven rebounds and Cane Broome had 19 points, including four 3-pointers, for Sacred Heart.
