American wins first home game, beats Holy Cross 58-45
WASHINGTON -- Jesse Reed scored 16 points and American beat Holy Cross 58-45 Monday night for the Eagles' fourth-straight win.
It was the first home win of the season for American (6-15, 4-6 Patriot League).
American was up by 10 points early in the second half before Holy Cross went on a 11-0 run to take a 29-28 lead with 11:27 remaining. But four of American's next five made field goals were from 3-point range and the Eagles took a 42-34 lead.
Reed and James Washington, who finished with 10 points, combined to make 9 of 10 free throws in the final two minutes to seal it.
Cullen Hamilton was the only player for Holy Cross (9-13, 4-7) to reach double figures with 18 points.
Holy Cross only had eight points through the first 18 minutes of the game but closed the first half on a 7-2 run to trail 16-15.
