Yale coasts to win over Cornell, 83-52
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Jack Montague scored 16 points and Yale faced little resistance in an 83-52 win over Cornell on Saturday night.
Justin Sears finished with 13 points and eight rebounds while Brandon Sherrod, Makai Mason, Sam Downey each added 10 points (15-5, 6-0 Ivy League).
Yale shot 46.9 percent from the field and had 21 total assists on its 30 field goals while holding the Big Red to 33.9 percent.
Matt Morgan scored 20 points to lead Cornell (9-11, 2-4).
The Bulldogs opened the game on a 29-9 scoring stretch and rolled from there; opening a 27-point first half lead after a Khaliq Ghani jumper. Yale continued to build its lead in the second half, pushing it to 62-32 on a Downey jumper with 14:55 left and a game high 36 (80-44) on another Downey basket with 4:36 remaining.
