Texas-Arlington coasts to 91-60 win over Appalachian State
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Jalen Jones sank four 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lead Texas-Arlington to a 91-60 win over Appalachian State on Saturday night.
Erick Neal added 11 points while dishing out seven assists for UT-Arlington (17-7, 8-5 Sun Belt Conference) and Kaelon Wilson had 10 points. The Mavericks shot 55 percent from the field (37-67) to win their third straight and remain a half game out of third place behind Louisiana Monroe.
Appalachian State (6-19, 4-10) opened the game with a bucket from Ronshad Shabazz to take its only lead. UT-Arlington then scored 14 of the next 17 points and carried a 49-21 lead into the break, marking its largest halftime advantage of the season.
The Mavericks led by at least 20 the rest of the way.
Griffin Kinney paced Appalachian State with 15 points and Emarius Logan had 12. The Mountaineers were held to 30 percent shooting from the field.
