Brittain leads Incarnate Word over Northwestern St 45-31
SAN ANTONIO -- Trent Brittain rushed for three touchdowns and passed for two more, leading Incarnate Word to a 45-31 win over Northwestern State on Saturday.
Faced with 14-0 and 21-7 deficits, Brittain finally put the Cardinals (3-2, 2-1 Southland Football League) on top with a 1-yard dive late in the third quarter, giving Incarnate Word a 28-24 lead. He followed it up with a 47-yard touchdown run and 7-yard touchdown pass to John Oglesby to salt the game away.
Daniel Taylor's 51-yard run brought the Demons (0-5, 0-3) within two scores midway through the fourth quarter, but Northwestern State couldn't muster another point. De'Mard Llorens had 98 yards and a touchdown and Taylor added 63 yards and two touchdowns.
Broderick Reeves' 23-yard touchdown for Incarnate Word run tied it at 21-all early in the third quarter. He finished with 116 yards on 19 carries.
