Litton with 2 TD passes; Marshall beats Old Dominion 27-7

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Chase Litton threw two touchdown passes to lead Marshall to a 27-7 victory over Old Dominion in the Conference USA opener for both teams on Saturday.

Litton was 21 of 35 for 212 yards passing. Tony Pittman ran for 127 yards on 32 carries with a touchdown. Nick Smith kicked field goals of 37 and 39 yards for the Thundering Herd.

Marshall (4-1, 1-0) fumbled twice and punted on its first three possessions before Litton connected with Deon-Tay McManus on a 10-yard touchdown pass. Litton threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Yurachek midway through the third quarter.

Ray Lawry ran for a 10-yard touchdown with about three minutes remaining for Old Dominion (2-3, 0-1), which was shutout for the first time in school history, its 76th game, in a 49-0 loss to Appalachian State last Saturday.
