Lions claim WR Wiggins off waivers from Patriots
ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions have claimed wide receiver Reese Wiggins off waivers.
Wiggins was released by the New England Patriots last week. He had 26 receptions for 372 yards and four touchdowns last year at East Carolina and caught 80 passes for 1,012 yards and eight touchdowns over three seasons.
Detroit made the move Monday. Detroit's rookies are due to report Tuesday and the full squad is scheduled to arrive Sunday at team headquarters for training camp.
When the Lions begin the season Sept. 8 at home against the New York Giants and for the rest of the regular season, they will wear a patch adorned with "WCF" to honor former owner William Clay Ford, who died in March.
