Titans place Schwenke on IR, release Phillips
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans have placed center Brian Schwenke on injured reserve and released veteran linebacker Shaun Phillips in a flurry of moves.
The Titans announced the moves Tuesday.
Schwenke hurt his left knee in Sunday's 43-24 loss at Philadelphia and had an MRI exam Monday. The Titans replaced the second-year center by agreeing to terms with offensive lineman Eric Olsen who Tennessee cut at the end of training camp. The 6-foot-3 Olsen and has played 18 games in five seasons with Denver, New Orleans and Pittsburgh.
The Titans cut their losses after signing Phillips in March to a two-year contract. He had only two sacks and 28 tackles in 11 games. The Titans promoted linebacker Dontay Moch off the practice squad.
