Panthers' Remmers to make first start vs. Vikings
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera says Mike Remmers will make his first NFL start at right tackle Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
Nate Chandler, who started the first 11 games at right tackle, injured his knee and was placed on injured reserve last week.
The Panthers signed Remmers from the St. Louis Rams' practice squad Oct. 28, but he hasn't played this season. He was on the Vikings' roster for a portion of last season but was cut this summer by Minnesota after training camp.
Remmers has only played in one NFL game, that coming in 2013.
The Panthers considered moving guard Amini Silatolu to right tackle, but his knee swelled up during practice this week and he's listed as doubtful for Sunday's game.
