Ex-Cowboy Spillman charged with sexual assault in Texas
GRAPEVINE, Texas -- Former Cowboys special teams player C.J. Spillman has been arrested on a sexual assault charge in an alleged 2014 incident at a Dallas-area hotel.
Tarrant County jail records show Spillman surrendered early Wednesday and was freed on $15,000 bond.
Grapevine police say a grand jury indicted Spillman on Monday after the alleged assault of a woman last Sept. 20 at the Gaylord Texan Resort, where he was staying.
Sgt. Robert Eberling says the woman filed a complaint within days of the incident. Eberling declined to provide further details on the investigation.
Spillman became a free agent in March.
His agent, Ron Slavin, declined comment Wednesday about the criminal case and says Spillman no longer lives in the Dallas area.
The Cowboys also declined comment.
