Seminoles freshman QB Malik Henry suspended indefinitely

Florida State freshman quarterback Malik Henry has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules, coach Jimbo Fisher announced Saturday.

"Right now he's suspended for a violation of team rules," Fisher told reporters after Saturday's practice. He declined further comment.

The Seminoles have two active scholarship quarterbacks with Henry's suspension and the injury to redshirt senior Sean Maguire. Maguire is expected to be out another three weeks after undergoing surgery Monday to repair a broken bone in his right foot.

Henry was No. 17 in the 2016 ESPN 300 and the second-best dual-threat quarterback in the class. It was unlikely the true freshman would see the field this coming season.

Redshirt freshman Deondre Francois is expected to start the Sept. 5 opener against Ole Miss. J.J. Cosentino is the remaining active scholarship quarterback. In limited time, Cosentino has struggled. The redshirt sophomore was 5-of-10 passing for 27 yards last season as the third-string quarterback.
