LSU fires special-teams coach Bradley Dale Peveto

BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU coach Ed Orgeron says he is replacing special-teams coordinator Bradley Dale Peveto, who held that post during the regular season.

Orgeron, who was named the Tigers' full-time head coach Saturday, said he appreciates the work Peveto has done but "decided to move in a different direction."

This season, LSU has ranked in the bottom half of the SEC in punting and punt returns while ranking last in kickoff returns.

The Tigers also struggled with field goals in their past two losses: a missed kick against Alabama and a botched snap and hold against Florida.

Peveto has had two stints at LSU, starting in 2005, and was hired both times by former coach Les Miles. Peveto rose to co-defensive coordinator in 2008 then left the program until 2014.

LSU (7-4, 5-3 SEC) awaits a bowl bid.
