Ohio State loses LB Justin Hilliard for rest of season

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State left its bye week with two fewer options to provide depth heading into Big Ten play.

Linebacker Justin Hilliard is out for the season following surgery for a left torn biceps, a similar injury to the one the redshirt freshman suffered in his right arm that forced him to miss spring practice. The reserve had been active on special teams and was credited for four tackles in the season-opening win over Bowling Green.

Wide receiver K.J. Hill, who caught the first touchdown of the season for the No. 2 Buckeyes and has two receptions for 58 yards, had surgery for a high-ankle injury that will put him on the shelf for approximately a month.

"Justin Hilliard tore his biceps -- the other one," Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said. "That's when where you shake your head like, 'How the hell did that happen?' He had surgery and he's out for several months."

The Buckeyes should get some help back for the linebacker unit with Dante Booker expected to be available Saturday against Rutgers. The starter has missed the last two games with a knee injury suffered in the opener.
