Former Houston guard L.J. Rose to transfer to BYU

PROVO, Utah -- Former Houston guard L.J. Rose has decided to transfer to BYU, BYU coach Dave Rose said Tuesday. He will be eligible to play as a graduate-transfer senior during the upcoming season.

A 6-foot-3 Houston native, L.J. Rose averaged 5.7 points and 3.6 assists during stints at Baylor and Houston. He has played in 82 games and started 44, but was limited to two games last season because of a foot injury.

Dave Rose said he expects L.J. Rose to add experienced depth to the backcourt.

BYU went 26-11 last season and advanced to the NIT semifinal, losing to Valparaiso 72-70.
