California point guard Charlie Moore, one of the nation's top available transfers, has committed to Kansas. "I'm going to attend Kansas," Moore told Scout. "I just thought it was the best decision for me. It's closer to home and it's a winning program and the coaches were good to me." Moore, a 5-foot-11 point guard from Chicago, left California earlier this month after a coaching change in Berkeley. He said he wanted to move closer to home to be near his family and his ailing father.  Moore was ranked No. 61 in the ESPN 100 coming out of high school. He originally signed with Memphis but changed his mind when coach Josh Pastner left for Georgia Tech. He averaged 12.2 points and 3.5 assists as a freshman. Kansas has now reeled in three of the best sit-out transfers over the past couple of weeks. Moore joins Memphis transfers Dedric and K.J. Lawson in the group. All three will sit out next season before becoming eligible for the 2018-19 season because of NCAA transfer regulations. Moore chose the Jayhawks over Illinois. He will have to sit out one season unless granted a waiver. His departure from Cal is a significant blow to new coach Wyking Jones. Moore averaged 12.2 points and 3.5 assists in his one season with the Golden Bears. Cal also lost Ivan Rabb to the NBA draft, and leading scorer Jabari Bird graduated. Jones will return one starter -- defense-minded big man Kingsley Okoroh.
