A number of American men's basketball teams that are touring Spain said Thursday that they are safe after a van plowed into pedestrians, killing 13 and injuring 100, 15 of them seriously, near where the teams are staying in Barcelona.
Teams from Clemson, Oregon State, Arizona and Tulane were all there.
Clemson posted a statement on its Twitter feed, saying the entire travel party is safe and secure inside the hotel. The Tigers' exhibition game scheduled for Thursday night against the Barcelona All-Stars has been canceled, and the team will head home Friday as previously scheduled.
Oregon State issued a statement saying the team is also OK. The Beavers are scheduled to tour Spain through Aug. 25 and are now determining the remaining schedule. Oregon State coach Wayne Tinkle discussed the incident in a video posted to Twitter.

Jeff Macy, Oregon State's associate athletic director for sports performance, was separated from his wife, Barb, when the attack occurred. He posted a statement on Twitter that she is spending the night with a local shopkeeper's family because no one is allowed to come to the team hotel.
"Even in these tragic times the beautiful people of Barcelona have opened their arms, hearts and now homes to protect their guests and comfort us during their dire time," Macy wrote. "What we saw today can never be unseen, but I will forever be grateful for what the people of Barcelona have done for us. Of course most importantly our prayers go out to the victims and their loved ones."
Arizona coach Sean Miller told ESPN's Jeff Goodman that everyone associated with the Wildcats program is safe and accounted for. The school later put out a statement saying that it would not play its third and final game of its exhibition tour and was working on plans to go home.
Tulane was scheduled to be on a tour until Saturday. Athletic director Troy Dannen tweeted that everyone associated with the program "is safe and accounted for in Barcelona."
A white van jumped up onto a sidewalk and sped down a pedestrian zone in Barcelona's historic Las Ramblas district Thursday, swerving from side to side as it plowed into tourists and residents. Police have called it a terror attack.
Two suspects have been detained.
FC Barcelona will wear black armbands and has planned a minute's silence for its opening La Liga match at the Camp Nou on Sunday.
Clemson has been in Spain for more than a week as part of a four-game exhibition tour across the country. The Tigers beat teams in Madrid, La Roda and Barcelona and toured many sites, as documented in a video blog posted on their Twitter feed and website.

The Texas A&M women's team, which is playing four exhibition games in Spain during a 10-day tour, have not changed plans for its game next week in Barcelona.
