Rockies recall top prospect David Dahl, put him in lineup vs. O's

MLB, Colorado Rockies

BALTIMORE -- The Colorado Rockies have selected the contract of top outfield prospect David Dahl from Triple-A Albuquerque, and planned to have the former No. 1 pick make his major league debut Monday night.

Dahl, the 10th overall pick in the 2012 draft, arrived at Camden Yards around 5 p.m. and he was placed in the starting lineup, batting sixth and in left field.

Rockies manager Walt Weiss said, "He's earned it. He deserves it."

Dahl batted .484 with five homers and 16 RBIs in 16 games with Albuquerque. He provides the Rockies with a valuable left-handed bat and is able to play all three outfield positions.

In a corresponding move, the Rockies designated outfielder Brandon Barnes for assignment.
