Report: Francisco Cervelli, Drew Butera to play for Team Italy in World Baseball Classic

Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli and Kansas City Royals catcher Drew Butera have been added to Team Italy's roster for the 2017 World Baseball Classic, sources told MLB.com's Jon Morosi.

Cervelli and Butera have previously played for Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic. Cervelli was 1-for-7 in the 2009 tournament, while Butera was 3-for-16 with four RBIs in 2013.

As the primary catcher for the Pirates the past two seasons, Cervelli slashed .264/.377/.322 with 14 doubles and 33 RBIs in 101 games in 2016. Butera, the backup for Salvador Perez, had a slash line of .285/.328/.480 with 10 doubles, 4 home runs and 16 RBIs in 56 games last season.

The 2017 World Baseball Classic is set to take place in March.
