Royals manager Ned Yost recovering from broken pelvis after fall from tree

MLB, Kansas City Royals

The Kansas City Royals say manager Ned Yost is recovering after he broke his pelvis and several ribs when he fell from a tree at his home in Georgia.

Yost, 62, had been working on a tree stand used for hunting when he fell. A Royals official told the Kansas City Star that Yost was injured "over the weekend."

Spokesman Mike Swanson said Thursday that Yost underwent surgery at Grady Hospital in Atlanta and was to be transferred to a rehabilitation facility Thursday or Friday. Swanson said Yost will need a wheelchair for a short time.

Yost is an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He has managed Kansas City since 2010 and led the Royals to the 2015 World Series title, the team's first since 1985.
