NBA players mysteriously receiving personalized potatoes in mail

Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets

Call it Mashed Madness.

A new trend has begun in the NBA this week: Players have been receiving personalized potatoes in the mail.

Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki was the first to share his tatered likeness on Twitter and has since been joined by the Indiana Pacers' C.J. Miles (via his wife, Lauren), Miami Heat's Hassan Whiteside and Charlotte Hornets' Frank Kaminsky III.

USA Today's For The Win offered an explanation for the phenomenon, noting that the company Potato Parcel -- featured on ABC's Shark Tank and ridiculed by Mavericks owner Mark Cuban -- is likely connected to the personalized potatoes.

Who knows: Maybe Spud Webb is involved in this somehow.
