SAN DIEGO -- Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald did not play against the San Diego Chargers on Friday because of a knee injury.

Coach Bruce Arians said Fitzgerald is suffering from a slight MCL sprain.

"It's just minor," Arians said.

Fitzgerald was seen running on the field during pregame warmups but dressed in shorts and a long-sleeved T-shirt on the sideline during the game.

Fitzgerald missed two games in 2014 because of an MCL injury in his right knee.

Three nights after being admitted to a San Diego-area hospital after his diverticulitis flared up, Arians was on the sideline for Friday night's game.

His workload, however, was lessened because offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin called the plays, as he did last weekend and will do in the fourth preseason game.

Arians reaffirmed his health after the game.

"I'm fine," Arians said following the Cardinals' 19-3 loss. "Just pissed."
