Colts QB Andrew Luck plays for first time since November injury

NFL, Indianapolis Colts

INDIANAPOLIS -- Quarterback Andrew Luck played in his first game since Nov. 8, 2015, on Saturday in the Indianapolis Colts' preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.

And he didn't show any rustiness.

Luck was a perfect 8-of-8 for 69 yards while playing the first two series for the Colts. His first series ended with an Adam Vinatieri 24-yard field goal, and Luck had the Colts in position to score again until tight end Dwayne Allen fumbled on a shovel pass from deep in Baltimore territory.

"You still get nervous, and the butterflies come out," Luck said. "You can't help but to get excited. It's a chance to wear a Colts uniform and go against another team. It was exciting, it was fun."

Luck had to wait until the Colts' third scheduled preseason game to make his debut because their opener, the Hall of Fame game, was canceled because of poor field conditions, and coach Chuck Pagano decided not to play his quarterback against the Buffalo Bills on Aug. 13.

Luck is trying to rebound from the worst season of his NFL career in 2015. He committed 13 turnovers and missed nine games due to injuries last season.

Luck suffered a season-ending lacerated kidney on a scramble play in Week 9 against Denver.

An emphasis for Luck has been improving his footwork and sliding to the ground to avoid taking unnecessary hits.

Colts owner Jim Irsay even mentioned in the offseason about getting a baseball coach to teach Luck how to slide. Luck rushed for 12 yards on two carries while sliding to the ground on both runs.
