TAMPA, Fla -- The Los Angeles Rams held off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 37-32 at Raymond James Stadium, a game that was suspended for nearly 1 hour and 10 minutes Sunday due to lightning at the two-minute mark.
Moments earlier, with 2:24 remaining in the fourth quarter, Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston completed an 11-play, 75-yard drive capped by a 7-yard touchdown pass to Mike Evans.
A failed two-point conversion made it 37-32.
On second-and-7 at the Rams' 9-yard line, Clinton McDonald stuffed Rams quarterback Case Keenum on a draw play for a 4-yard loss, setting up a third-and-11 from the L.A. 9-yard line. That's when the thunder kicked in, followed by gusts of wind and some debris falling from the upper decks onto the field.
The game officially resumed at 8:28pm local time, after players completed a 10-minute warmup.
It marked the second straight time the Rams had been faced with a delay for a game at Raymond James Stadium. It also happened in 2014, a 51-minute lightning delay in the second quarter of the Rams' eventual 19-17 win.
During the latest break, Rams middle linebacker Alec Ogletree said his team simply hydrated, stayed loose and regrouped.
"The mood was, 'We have to go back out there and finish when they tell us the rain delay is over,'" Ogletree said. "That's exactly what we did."
