How many wins does Gus Malzahn need this season to rebuild trust from the Auburn faithful? Just three years ago, Malzahn immediately turned around the program. The Tigers went 3-9 in 2012, Gene Chizik's last season, but Malzahn took them to the BCS championship game in his first season. Entering the 2016 season, he finds himself on Chris Low and Adam Rittenberg's list of coaches on the hot seat.
Since the 2013 campaign, Auburn has gone 8-5 and 7-6 while rival Alabama has made two trips to the College Football Playoff and won a national title. Against Power 5 opponents, Auburn has lost 10 of its past 13 games. Malzahn would be owed $8.9 million if he were to be let go after the season, but Auburn fired Chizik just two years removed from winning the 2010 national title.
